Pastor Marvene Young is a long-time resident of Owings, MD. She has one son, Malik and a nephew, Stephan, who is like a son. Pastor Marvene loves God! She currently serves as Pastor of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Ark Road, where we strive to serve our community, help others, but most of all, follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. Pastor Marvene’s favorite scripture is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

 

Prior to being Pastor at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Ark Road, she served as Pastor at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church for approximately five years. Pastor Marvene is a graduate of the Calvert County Public School system.
She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at Bowie State University. She also completed a Master of Arts degree in Management and Leadership at Liberty University and a Master of Arts degree in Christian Ministry: Evangelism & Church Planting from Liberty Theological Seminary. Pastor Marvene is currently working on her Master of Divinity degree at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky. She also works full-time in the field of Information Technology and is a Master Certified Life Coach, providing Spiritual and Leadership Coaching at Rejuvenate Life, LLC. Pastor Marvene loves working with people. Whether youth & young adults, outreach, nurturing, witness, or worship programs, she strives to ensure that God gets all the glory! Pastor Marvene loves family events, enjoys singing, reading, roller skating and writing. She is the Author of “The Spiritual Heart of A Single Woman.” Pastor Marvene tries to use every opportunity possible as a ministry moment. Pastor Marvene’s motto is “People are just People... No matter
what color, size, culture, or status, God loves us just the way we are; God loves us through our circumstances
and will meet us where we are in life.” Pastor Marvene enjoys serving others and strives to follow in the
footsteps of Jesus always.
